Ciel Bleu on national television

Last Saturday a tv crew of SBS6 visited the Ciel Bleu Restaurant. They were here for a new tv program called, ‘Do will I get rich?’. This program explains how you could get rich. The famous Dutch celebrity Henk-Jan Smits presents the program. Besides interviewing a millionaire, they try out the luxury lifestyle in each episode. Therefore Henk-Jan Smits and his guests settled at the Chefs Table and enjoyed a luxury diner which I served them personally. Most probably the episode will be broadcasted at the end of March. I’ll let you know when exactly!

Giving a lecture at the Hotel school in Wageningen

Enthusiasm all around at the lecture for future sommeliers

Last week I have given a lecture to students of the Hotelschool in Wageningen about the profession of sommelier and gastronomy in general. I have followed a course at the Hotelschool in Wageningen myself a time ago and therefore it is very nice to return to my old school once or twice a year. Cooking talent achieved impressive results at the HorecaEvenTT 2009

dennishuwaeinassen_small.jpgOn the 10th of February I participated in the HorecaEvenTT 2009 in Assen. During this event, culinary contests are organized under the name EvenTT-Culinair. I participated in two different cooking contests, once I gained the first position and one time I won the second price.

The birth of a cooking studio

Over the last few years Hotel Okura Amsterdam has proudly published four culinary books. To shortly refresh your memory; we started with creating the Yamazato Kaiseki book about Kaiseki ryori, Japan’s haute cuisine and the recipe book of Yamazato in which Akira Oshima reveals the secrets of 20 of his kaiseki dishes. After that we have published the Ciel Blue book of which we are very proud. And last but not least the book ‘Sazanka – Refined Teppanyaki Cuisine’ was recently presented in November 2008.
