Good morning from Cape Town |
|
Finally, Sunday 20th of June was the day of departure. At 07.30am we were expected at Schiphol Airport. Last night Noël and I had a short night behind us because of the new Seasonal menu that just started. And the Sherry Battle of Noël and Cuno that took place in the Wine room (see newsblog below). The beautiful prospect of 10 days South-Africa, gave us enough energy to be at the airport in time. After check-in and saying the girls goodbye we went to the South!
After an 11 hour flight we arrived in Cape Town at 22.00pm where a private bus took us to the hotel. The first impression we had of Cape Town was that the party was already in full motion. Football is everywhere and the streets were filled with Brazilian supporters partying since they had just won 3-1 from the Ivory Coast. Music, a dancing crowd and the sound of the Vuvuzela came towards us. The Vuvuzela’s make an enormous sound when you’re right in the middle of it!
When we arrived at the hotel we were welcomed with snacks and local beverages. After that we went to bed so we would be well rested for day 1 in South-Afrika. Day 1 Noël and I will be going to the presslunch where they will be serving us classical ‘Seekos’ (seafood dish). After that Noël will go to Groot Constantia for a private tour and wine tasting. I will be preparing for the press event of Neil Ellis Winery at the Radisson Blu hotel for the next day. The whole group will meet again during the evening at the African street for a surprise party and ‘Braai’ (B.B.Q.)
We’re now headed for the bus. We had a good night’s rest and no Jet-Lag so we’re totally ready! Keep following us during our stay via this weblog, we’ll be making daily reports of our experience.
Baie Groet!
Noël and Onno
