The encounter with Alois Lageder
donderdag, 20 december 2007
It is lovely to stay in Italy, especially during the summer. Think of Ventimilia, close to the Adriatic Sea with all her Italian beauties and macho's who try to seduce you. When you leave Rome in northern or southern direction there will always happen something. This time Italy came to the Netherlands. weblogaang.jpg Mister Alois Lageder, a winemaker full of passion from "Alto Adige" (North-Italy), came to our capital Amsterdam. He told us everything about the new developments in his winery in the north of Italy. In a recent opened restaurant we could meet his wines in combination with a delicious lunch prepared by chef Edo Kamping.

As aperitif we started with a mild tasting Haberle Pinot Bianco from 2006, accompanied by a raw oyster with a bit of cucumber and radish. Then we had an intense medium Chardonnay Coreth from 2005. This wine came along with a terrine of goose liver, smoked ale and gelatine of blood oranges. Further mister Lageder presented the MM Merlot from 2000. This sophisticated and slightly spiced wine with his juicy cassis fruit tones got a lot of appreciation, especially in combination with the stewed oxtail with white beans, tomatoes and olives.

The climax of the evening was dear saddle, roasted in it's own gravy, combined with a glass of nice Krafuss Pinot Nero from 2004. We ended this lovely culinary evening with a Löwengang Chardonnay from 2004 and a spoon with Vacherin Mont D'or cheese. After a warm-hearted goodbye from Alois Lageder we left the restaurant, full of inspirations for our guests.
