Ciel Bleu meets... South Africa part II |
When I usually thought of South Africa, I thought of Nelson Mandela, Table Mountain, Robbeneiland, Joburg and of course the lovely South African wines. Not knowing that South Africa also boasts a famous Dutch cook. Not knowing that the chef of this restaurant in Fransch Hoek belongs to the top 50 in the world! To share this culinary expertise with you, we are going to bring this lady called Margot Janse to the Netherlands! The theme for our annual culinary event ‘Ciel Bleu meets..’ this year will be South Africa. During this event we will serve a special menu with influences of Margot kitchen and my kitchen.
As you might have read in the previous weblog, Noël Vanwittenbergh recently visited South Africa to get more familiar with the cuisine of Margot, and of course with the South African wines. I reveal you that it is going to be a culinary spectacle, with many South African influences. To give you a speak preview already; ingredients such as Koeksister, Granadilla, Buchu and Chakalaka will be used in the menu. I can guarantee you these ingredients were unknown for our team as well! Arjan and I are busy fine-tuning the menu, all in South African style! The results of this challenge can be taste from the 2nd till the 13th of July in the Ciel Bleu Restaurant.
Baie Groete, On behalf of the Ciel Bleu team, Onno
